deserving of it or not, american jurisprudence demands not just respect, but deference. subservient complicity is a requirement for it to even function. reasoned disagreement is dismissed in favor of credulous enthusiasm. intellectual honesty is jettisoned in favor of mere consensus. false equivalence rules all submission of so-called evidence--hearsay is equally weighted with direct observation upon the ritual laying of a hand upon a magical book. whatever moral responsibility for pernicious casuistry the privileged individuals running the show display during any given case will be considered by all involved to be equally distributed exclusively upon the heads of those who merely witnessed the charade they were coerced into joining. whatever the outcome of this farce, it is called "justice."
in this system, in this aggregation of elite prescribed behavior ascribed to a fictional popular will, a confession extorted by law enforcement using the threat of a potentially life destroying sentence, however false that confession may be, is sufficient to incarcerate without expending any effort to determine the actual truth of the self-incriminating admission; an admission made, and unquestioningly accepted without the least verification, without even the pretense of involving that aforementioned magical book. this, too, will be called "justice."
"justice" in this subculture simply means "the minority's managing of the majority."
