the social contract needs to be rewritten. submitting to an imaginary majority since it's viewed as an actual majority and believing an actual majority simply must rule because reasons is patently absurd. it's rule by the argumentum ad numerum fallacy. it doesn't matter what everyone thinks or, more precisely, what you think everyone thinks--there is no wisdom of crowds, that's an illusion, because consensus doesn't equal evidence and evidence needs to lead if we're going to survive and this is on each one of us to choose as best we can every single day. because democracy matters. and democracy can't run parallel with the facts and last.

what's the solution to those who insist their not liking facts disproves them and their liking facts makes them magically so? i can only see one solution, really. ignore these people and tirelessly pitch the truth to their kids. tell them stories that tell the truth. and never stop telling them. not ever.
