i tend to see all fiction as arguments from analogy. every piece ever written has a base of assumptions from which its narrative proceeds and this procession inevitably reaches an etiological conclusion. put another way, all fiction can be summed up by the formula "if this, then that." of course, this isn't science--no physical evidence is being measured. the only thing happening here is a presentation of ideas that requires testing to be verified. like anything philosophical, without a physical metric, it's all speculation.
but that doesn't mean it isn't true.
